About Us...Donna Goff founded Moor House Academy, a private cyber-school and cottage school / home education hybrid in 2002. Donna's oldest daughter Julia Groves is a Senior Mentor at MHA.

Goffs and Groves

Donna Goff  (Founder):

Donna Goff  lives in Orem, Utah with her husband Roger and their two youngest children.  She is the mother of four sons and three daughters 13-33. She is grandmother of two granddaughters, seven grandsons, and one on the way; all under eight! She has home educated her children since the early 1980s, and been doing Charlotte Mason (CM) since 1994 and Thomas Jefferson Education (TJEd) since 1995. Donna believes in prioritizing- God, family, and outreach, in that order. Donna earned her BA in Fine Art and Design from Brigham Young University ‘80, 5 Pillar Certification ‘06, and MA Ed. George Wythe University ‘08.  Donna has been a keynote speaker and has presented at dozens of conferences in California, Nevada, Utah and Virginia, since 1995.  She created Momculture yahoo group in 2000 and Mentoring Our Own Yahoo Group in 2002. Donna and her daughters co-founded The Princess Academies in 2009, an organization for mothers and daughters promoting a whole education for girls. Donna loves to be a wife and mother; she also loves to learn, create, provident living, gardening, hiking, stained glass murals, sharing, being a frugalite and life! 

 

Julia A. Groves (Senior Mentor):

Julia is the third of seven children born to Roger and Donna Goff, and their oldest daughter. She was home-schooled from the middle of her 6thgrade year through High School. She attended George Wythe University where she studied Statesmanship with an emphasis in Education and Literature. She has taught at various private schools, and has spoken at educational conferences in both Utah and Nevada. Julia married the love of her life Rory R. Groves in 2009. They adore their daughter Isabella and are eagerly anticipating the birth of their son Alexander.  Julia acknowledges that her priorities are 1st God, 2nd Her Family, and 3rd helping others come to Christ and embrace their full potential as children of God. Some of her favorite past times include: Reading, writing, cooking, learning new skills, hiking/walking, and spending time with her family.

 

Rory R Groves (Artist in Residence)

Rory is the husband of Julia A. Groves. He was born and raised in Magna, Utah. He is the firstborn of four children. He developed his distinctive style over a life time and we are honored to have the opportunity to use his work. Moor House Academy teamed up with artist, illustrator, and cartoonist, Rory R. Groves. He has been our resident artist since 2009 to design our logo, web design, video compilations, as well as, all the artwork and illustrations for our website and educational products.  The logos and other art work on this site and in our products are his creations.
